Registration

The 2011 Spirit of Duluth Hockey Tournament will be held on December 9, 10 and 11, 2011. This is the second weekend in December. The tournament will be for boys’ hockey at the Pee Wee A, Bantam A, and Junior Gold A level.

The tournament will be held a the Heritage Complex, Sill Arena and Seitz Arena, MARS-Lakeview Arena on the Marshall School Campus in addition to Fryberger Arena and we are happy to announce we will once again have games played at the DECC Arena. The tournament will follow the same format as past years with teams in each division playing a round-robin system. AGAIN THIS YEAR EACH TEAM WILL BE GUARANTEED A MINIMUM OF 4 GAMES, AND SOME TEAMS WILL PLAY 5 GAMES. The Peewee’s will play 15-minute stop time periods and 17-minute stop time periods will be held for the Bantam and Junior Gold divisions.

Defending Champions will still be guaranteed their place in the tournament if they apply.

If your team wishes to apply to be in the tournament, please respond by mail, phone or email to the undersigned no later than Friday, September 17, 2011. Acceptance letters will be mailed out on or about September 28, 2011. This year’s entry fee will be the same as last year $850.00. The entry fee is due on or before October 16, 2011. If you apply and are selected, and the entry fee is not received by October 16, 2011, a new team may be selected. Any team dropping out after November 1, 2011 will not be refunded their entry fee.

NOTE: if your organization sends 3 teams, one for each division, the entry fee for each team will be reduced to $800.00, and if your organization sends 2 teams to the Spirit, the entry fee will be reduced to $825.00 for each of those 2 teams.

Please be advised our major sponsor ZMC Hotels will again sponsor a “stocked” Hospitality room on Friday evening at Tournament Headquarters, the Inn on Lake Superior.

As our major sponsor, if your team stays at either the Edgewater Resort (The Edge) or the Inn on Lake Superior, they will offer your team two free rooms per night for your coaches. Click here for details.

Also, again this year, we will not be charging a gate fee for spectators attending our tournament, but in lieu of a gate fee, we will be charging $25.00 for each player on the roster. This fee will need to be paid at the time your team is registered.

BEFORE APPLYING PLEASE NOTE:

1. If you are planning on entering, you must be prepared for the possibility of playing as early as 9:00 am on Friday and Saturday, December 9th and 10th, 2011. There will be no changes once the schedules are sent out. The schedule and other information will be sent out around November 9, 2011
